BIOGRAPHY
 

 

Acclaimed as a "perfect Hansel" performing with "blustery bravado", mezzo-soprano Kristin Behrmann made her debut in Opera Omaha's production of Hansel & Gretel .

For the 2018 season, Kristin will return to the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola with Opera on the James, joined by her husband Christopher Nelson, tenor, as Prince Ramiro.  

In the 2017 season Kristin Behrmann performed as Giannetta (L'elisir d'amore) at St Petersburg Opera, Mezzo in Glass & Ginsberg's (Hydrogen Jukebox) with Utopia OperaFlora (La Traviata) at Regina Opera, and Nimue (Camelot) with Natchez Festival Opera

Kristin returned to New Rochelle Opera in 2016 as Ines (Il Trovatore), sang Sesto (La Clamenza di Tito) with Sing Through Central, and Gianetta (L'elisir d'amore) with Amore Opera.

in 2015 Kristin was an Emerging Artists at St Petersburg Opera where she covered Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. She also sang the role of Mother (Amahl) and Mercedes (Carmen) with New Rochelle Opera.

Other past performances include Tamara (Enemies, A Love Story) with Center for Contemporary, Annina  (La Traviata) with North Shore Opera, Lucia (Cavalleria Rusticana) with Garden State Opera, Siebel (Faust) and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) with Amore Opera, Mercedes (Carmen) and Sesto (Giulio Cesare) with The Metropolitan Opera Guild/Sing Through Central, Mrs. Page (Merry Wives of Windsor), Dorabella (Così fan Tutte), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), and Tessa (The Gondoliers) with Lamont School of Music.

As a Young Artist with Opera Colorado, Kristin performed the title role in Rossini's Cinderella and Dionisia in La Curandera. While with Opera Santa Barbara's Young Artist Program, Kristin sang Stephano in Roméo et Juliette.  

Kristin is a two-time winner of the Fé Bland Foundation Music Award, Santa Barbara Foundation.  In addition to her experience as a performing vocalist, Kristin has a strong orchestral background and has played the violin since age four.

Kristin currently studies with Braeden Harris.
